The orthopedic unit works with a full operation schedule for both emergency and scheduled procedures. • Knee, hip, shoulder and elbow replacement

With a portfolio of over 2,000 heart surgeries, the Cardio thoracic team performs cardio vascular surgeries on both paediatric and adult patients with the aim of prolonging life. The team had the ability and skill to perform the following delicate services:

• Coronary artery bypass surgeries
• Cardiomyoplasty
• Myectomy
• Open heart surgeries

Our endoscopy team has a proven success rate with an annual average of 2000 upper endoscopy procedures, 136 colonoscopy procedures and 300 esophageal stenting procedures. Our paediatric surgeons are trained to diagnose, treat and manage children’s surgical needs including:

• Surgery for abnormalities of the groin in childhood and adolescence which include undescended testes, hernias, hydroceles and varicoceles
• Surgical repair of birth defects
• Serious injuries that require surgery (for example, liver lacerations, knife wounds, or gun-shot wounds)
• Diagnosis and surgical care of tumors
• Endoscopic procedures (bronchoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy)

Performing more than 500 cases per year, neurosurgeons at Tenwek Hospital provide comprehensive clinic evaluations (Mondays at Tenwek Main and Wednesdays at Bomet Annex) as well as elective and emergency surgeries on the brain and spine for both children and adults. Treatment areas include:
