Tenwek Hospital, emerged as the 2nd runner-up in the Hospital of the Year People’s Choice category at the prestigious Quality Healthcare Awards held on April 5, 2023. The theme for this year’s awards was “Quality People-Centred Care for All,” and it brought together previous winners from the past three editions to compete for the coveted title.
The Hospital of the Year Award is a significant recognition in the healthcare industry, as it is determined through people-oriented voting. Tenwek Hospital was pitted against esteemed healthcare institutions such as AIC Kijabe Hospital, Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital, Makindu Sub County Hospital, Makueni County Referral Hospital, Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, M.P. Shah Hospital, Ruai Family Hospital, and St. Theresa Mission Hospital – Kiirua. After a rigorous selection process, Ruai Family Hospital emerged as the winner, with St. Theresa Mission Hospital securing the second position, and Tenwek Hospital coming in as the 2nd runner-up and 3rd runner up at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.
The Quality Healthcare Awards Kenya is a forum that empowers citizens to advocate for standardization of the quality of care provided across the health sector. It also incentivizes healthcare providers to continually upgrade their services and strive for high-quality care. The other finalists were AAR Healthcare Kenya Limited and Stowelink.
